Choosing a foundation for me is a big task, with my skin type being an issue, as well as my shade. However, one of the foundations I love to use to keep my skin looking matte is The Body Shop Matte Clay Skin Clarifying Foundation in the shade 055 Moluccan Nutmeg.

About the foundation:

  • Full coverage
  • Matte finish
  • Contains tea tree oil
  • £10.00 for 30ml
  • Comes in a squeezy tube
  • 100% Vegan

This foundation is perfect for those who have oily and/or acne-prone skin! It is super matte and doesn’t let any oils come out during the day. The tea tree oil in the foundation (although does smell quite strongly) works to clarify the skin and combat acne. I’ve found that it doesn’t clog my skin, nor does it exacerbate any spots.

It’s the only foundation on the market (to my knowledge) which is so catered to oily and acne prone skin, that also benefits the skin rather than clogging it.

Personally, this foundation has easily lasted me through an extremely hot day, without powder and without touch-ups! It also provides buildable to full coverage but can look cakey quite quickly if too much product is used.

However, there aren’t many shades in the range (only 10) which is an obvious downside. To have found my shade in the first place was very surprising and wasn’t possible without the staff, so I would definitely recommend going to the store to try the shade.

I would, however, recommend that this foundation is not used if your skin is dry (even if only in some spots!). The foundation clings to any dry spots as it’s so matte that it really is for those with oily skin.

I also recommended this to my bestie and she loves it so much, it’s now her daily foundation! If you’re not as sure as she is, you can go in-store and get a free sample to try it out.
