Facial SPFs are so important to protect our skin in the short and long term, even if the sun isn’t out. But, as a brown girl, it’s hard to find an SPF that doesn’t give a white cast. But, keep reading to find out more about the melanin friendly one!
I got the recommendation for this SPF from a model called Simran (@simisear_ on insta). She’s a fellow brown girl and raved about the lack of white cast this SPF gives and it really is an amazing SPF and lives up to her recommendation!
It retails for £17 for a 40ml and £21 for a 60ml tube at The Body Shop. It is an SPF 50 and is non-comedogenic (won’t block pores and is therefore great for oily and acne-prone skin!). Straight from The Body Shop website: it is a “feather-light, milk-to-water essence with broad-spectrum UV filters, brightening red algae and antioxidant Vitamin C, to help protect skin against multiple skin aggressors, while providing utmost comfort”.
I’ve found it wears really well under makeup and hasn’t reacted weirdly with foundation, any other makeup or any of my skincare. It is also really easy to wear by itself as there is no white cast and it dries down matte and blends in quickly.
My only drawback is the cost, unfortunately. With The Body Shop, products are always quite pricey but I find I don’t get a lot of product for what I pay. I am yet to find another SPF, though, that is able to perform as well as this, and a small amount of product goes a long way.
I would definitely recommend this SPF, and when I run out, I’ll be committing and purchasing the 60ml!
